Fresh Kaffir Lime Fruit and Leaves

Kaffir Lime is from the citrus family and is native to Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.  Kaffir Lime is one of the key ingredients in many South East Asia cuisines.  The fruit is small and green that differs from your normal lime as it has a very bumby surface.

The leaves are a deep green colour quite firm to touch with a distinct Kaffir Lime smell.  The leaves are most commonly used in Australia as the fruit has been quite difficult to purchase.

Kaffir Lime fruit has a real intense flavour and can be juiced and zested into a multitude of meals.  Thai Green Curry, Thai Fish Cakes and stir-fry’s are great dinner options you can try at home for your family.

Cooking with Kaffir Lime is very simple and a few leaves can simply be added to your next curry, as it will give an Asian feel and flavour.  A light summer salad would be perfect for thin slices of fresh Kaffir leaves.

The fruit in some opinions is more popular than the leaves but is less used due to availability and price.

On a hot summers day a wedge of Kaffir Lime in you cold beer is very tasty and refreshing.

Kaffir Lime pie is a great dessert selection when catering your next dinner party, for most it will offer a new experience.

Try fresh Snapper wrapped in foil cooked on the BBQ or in the oven with Kaffir Lime fruit, 10-15 Kaffir Lime leaves, chilli-garlic-ginger, butter and seasoning.

Fresh homemade Mayonnaise with Kaffir Lime juice and zest on your next fish & chips, the whole family will love it!
